Art & Design

Intent

The Arts at All Saints is a crucial component in developing the whole child through our broad and balanced curriculum. The Arts comprises of art, music, dance and drama, and provides children the opportunity to explore, develop and showcase new and existing talents. The Arts enable children to continually improve their mind through independently evaluating their creations. This embodies the use of metacognition; where children think clearly about their actions. Children have the opportunity to explore and attend a range of artistic events to fuel aspirations. By exploring a range of mediums in the arts builds confidence and emotional intelligence. Cross-curricular learning enables unique talents to be embraced whilst promoting diversity and equality. Learners are able to share their new or existing talents through worships and other events. By doing this, they are able to thrive in a shared society.

In art pupils will have the opportunity to learn:

To use a range of materials creatively to design and make products

To use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination

To develop a wide range of art and design techniques by using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space

About the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work
