Eco Council

Featherstone All Saints Eco Council

Our Eco Council has been formed to discuss ways to reduce, reuse, recycle and to protect our environment around our school and the local environment.  We are working hard to achieve our eco action plan and raise awareness of green issues within school. We are also working closely with the gardening club to become a healthier school.

Each class has an eco-councillor who represent their classmates by collecting their ideas to share with the other eco councillors at our meetings.

It is brilliant to see so many pupils interested in joining the School Eco Council and working to make our school more environmentally friendly and become a sustainable school to achieve an Eco-School award for our efforts!

We follow the aims of the Eco-Schools programme. The programme is a learning resource and topic areas include: Energy, Litter, Waste, Transport, Healthy Living, Water, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.

At All Saints we want to revamp the way we recycle. We have already raised £92.00 from Bags to School which we hope to buy some recycling bins for our playground.

The Eco Council visited Drax Power Station

Where we investigated how power stations are changing the way they generate electricity by using sustainable materials to help save our environment.
